JOB SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Director of APEX of St Peter's, the Equipment Inventory/technician sets-up, operates and repairs various types of home medical and oxygen equipment Technician is also responsible for day to day inventory tracking to maintain appropriate PAR levels for the department and works closely with the APEX Purchasing Technician to assure availability of equipment and supplies for APEX clients. Technician will work closely with Deliver and Set-Up staff and Repiratory Therapists to assure all equipment and supplies are maintained and serviced to comply with regulatory guidelines and JCAHO standards. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot and repair routine medical and oxygen equipment. Certification as a repair technician helpful but can provide training. Must maintain CPR certification and have ability to acquire CDL license with Hazmat endorsement. Must have clean driving record and adequate insurance coverage. Good physical condition. Good organizational and computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of inventory tracking systems. Willing to function as a cooperative team member. Responsible and cooperative attitude EDUCATION : High School diploma or GED preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Commercial Driver's License with Haz Mat endorsement. Aptitudes : Demonstrate ability to effectively and creatively solve problems without immediate supervision. Demonstrated ability to plan and use time wisely. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/families who may be under physical and emotional stress. Gather and exchange information effectively with nursing personnel, physicians, and customers. Ability to enter data accurately using the computer. Interpersonal skills and abilities to interact effectively with patients/families who may be under physical/emotional stress. Gather/exchange information effectively with nursing personnel, physicians, and customers. Mechanical ability to repair medical and oxygen equipment to meet regulatory guidelines
