Description: Indian Health Service is at present looking to employ Pharmacy Technician right now, this vacancy will be placed in Montana. Further informations about this vacancy opportunity please read the description below. Indian Health Service (IHS) pharmacists play a crucial role in the continuum of care health model designed for American Indians and Alaska Natives. As part of an interdisciplinary team, IHS pharmacists work alongside physicians, nurses and other advanced practitioners to provide patient-centered care to an otherwise medically underserved, yet appreciative patient population.

IHS pharmacists also have a unique opportunity to live and practice in some of the most spectacular areas of the country, in clinical settings as well as hospital settings. Pharmacists practicing within Indian health programs can become involved in local social activities, gaining a wealth of memorable experiences. Imagine being present for a whaling festival in Alaska, watching umiaq races and contests of whaling skills, attending a bean festival or watching the intricate dances and pageantry of a traditional Indian pow wow in New Mexico or Oklahoma. An IHS pharmacist can choose to stay in one location or transfer to other locations, further exploring American Indian and Alaskan Native cultures and geographic regions.

There are three careers paths from which to choose for those considering a career in Indian health. Pharmacists can join as federal civil service employees, direct Tribal hires or as officers of the US Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. Civil service and the Commissioned Corps each offer generous vacation, sick leave, insurance and retirement packages, as well as a possibility for sign-up bonuses. For those who choose to work directly for a Tribe, pay and benefits are comparable to federal employment but are negotiated directly with the Tribe.

Pharmacists are also eligible to apply for the IHS Loan Repayment Program, which repays eligible health professions educational loans â€" up to $20,000 per year, plus an additional 20% for taxes â€" in exchange for an initial two-year service obligation at an eligible site.
