Special Information:
Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility is the State correctional treatment facility for adolescent males committed to the Department of Corrections by the Youth Court. Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility provides clinical, nursing, education, recreation, group living and other services to treat the emotional, social and educational problems of these males. The education unit provides educational opportunities to students on a daily basis, 12 months of the year. Instruction ranges from the traditional classroom model to new and innovative models that use experiential or authentic learning opportunities as a basis. The Pine Hills campus also contains a 300 acre farm and a grow tunnel. Duties:
Teaching : Teaches vocational educational in a classroom and/or alternative education environment to provide vocational educational competencies using a combination of verbal, written and practice exercises which meet OPI standards. When teaching vocational courses, the incumbent is responsible for challenging the adolescent males in a non-traditional classroom and helping them become comfortable with work skills most have never been exposed to. Courses include basic construction, auto maintenance and agriculture. Submits progress reports as scheduled to the treatment team and submits grades earned at the end of each quarter to the school principal.
Program Support : Physically or verbally intervenes with acting out students to protect the staff, student or others using Non Violent Crisis Intervention techniques. Responds to emergencies such as fires, disturbances, escapes, or injuries to assist in restoring normal operations and maintain a safe campus. Meets the diverse needs of students in the classroom by providing an appropriate learning environment. Provides quality instruction by using effective lesson plan development and strategies. Establishes effective classroom management, safety procedures, and behavior expectations. Maintains effective professional relationships with staff and students.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Education with a Class 1 or 2, Level 2 (7-12) or Level 8 (5-12) Montana Teaching Certificate with a appropriate endorsement. 1 to 2 years of job related experience preferred. **Will consider a training period within which to get MT Teaching Certification. **
