You will be subject to a background/suitability investigation. DUTIES:
This position is located in the Office of the Director of the VA Medical
Center in Fort Harrison, MT. As a Secretary (Office Automation) you will serve
as the principle assistant to the Associate Director, Patient Care Serv! ices.
Your duties will include planning, scheduling, organizing, and coordinating the
administrative functions assigned to the Associate Director as well as
providing administrative support to the Nurse Recruiter and Retention
Specialist. Major duties and responsibilities include:
Maintaining calendars for the Associate Director and Associate Chiefs. Making appointments and arranging meetings for the Associate Director and Associate Chiefs. Obtaining background information and performs research. Taking minutes and coordinates preparation/distribution of meeting minutes. Preparing agendas, coordinates meeting locations/times/members and guests. Receiving and sorts incoming correspondence. Preparing correspondence, logs and reports in final form. Determining correct format of typed materials. Maintaining and update electronic files. Maintaining accurate emergency callback system information. Receiving and screening visitors and phone calls. Ser! ving as backup timekeeper.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year of specialized experience that
equipped with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform
successfully the duties of the Secretary (Office Automation) position at the
GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
planning work and organizing priorities of an office, including maintenance of
calendar and making appointments for a director or chief; obtaining background
information and performing research on various subject matter; and taking
minutes, preparing agendas, coordinating meeting locations/times/members and
guests. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per
week. Part-time experience will ! be credited on the basis of time actually spent
in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to be credited with such
experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and
responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week actually spent
in such employment. AND
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified
typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements,
you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Position requires walking, standing, bending,
typing on a computer and prolonged periods of sitting as well as the emotional
stability to handle difficult problem solving situations. Duties are performed in an office setting.

Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:
Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;!
Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.
