B.S. or Pharm.D. from accredited College of Pharmacy
Licensed as registered pharmacist in Montana
Minimum two years of inpatient/hospital experience
CPR and ACLS certi! fication required within one year of hire
Preferred
ASHP-accredited residency preferred.
Prior supervisory experience and/or Clinical coordinator experience
Job Summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor’s function is to help provide high quality pharmaceutical services that foster the efficacious, safe and cost effective drug use for our customers.
The CPS plays an integral role in the coordination and delivery of clinical and distributive services.
Primary duties include: development and implementation of plans to improve the quality of clinical services,increase cost effective drug utilization, education of pharmacy staff, medication use evaluation, formulary evaluations, medication error monitoring, and adverse drug reaction monitoring.
The CPS will also be responsible for assisting the pharmacy manager with performance appraisals, Performance improvement, scheduling, and hiring as needed. The CPS will serve as a resource! for Staff pharmacists for drug information and other clinical! pharmacy needs. Will also provide staffing Support as needed. Supervises daily operations and pharmacy personnel.This position will work closely with the Pharmacy Manager, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and patients. The CPS is responsible for appropriate time utilization and work prioritization under the directions of the Pharmacy Manager.
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills in daily activities. Organizes staff development activities and education for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nurses.Organizes and delegates drug usage evaluation, clinical monitoring, and medication protocol management for pharmacy staff. Assists in formulary development to ensure optimal outcomes while controlling drug costs.
Supervises pharmacy student clerkship activity. Attends and participates in assigned committees. Supervises pharmacy personnel and assists with performance appraisals, scheduling, and performance improvement.
Demons! trates competent clinical knowledge and skills. Assists physicians in making drug therapy decisions. Coordinates activitiesof Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Responsible for protocol development. Interact with physicians and collaborate on drug utilization guidelines. Responsible to monitor medication usage for appropriateness and cost effectiveness. Maintains communication and computer skills.
Maintains optimal clinical pharmacy practice through planned and continuous growth and development. Meets necessary CE requirements. Seeks new learning experiences. Contributes to pharmacy education programs. Complies with policies and procedures of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
