The CM is responsible for providing support and guidance to residents while monitoring all aspects of participation in the Alternatives, Inc. residential program. The goal of the CM is to ensure the client's adherence to program and societ al rules while establishing a release plan supportive of a crime-free lifestyle.
Provide residents with a complete orientation to the Alternatives, Inc. Residential Program.
Meet with each resident for individual sessions on a weekly basis.
Work with residents to develop an appropriate contract that contains time lines and detailed plans for accomplishing goals.Utilizing the ?SMART? goal planning process with residents is encouraged.
Help residents to develop sound budgetary practices. This will include reviewing expense requests and determining the appropriateness of planned expenditures, evaluating resident performance, presenting assessments at weekly reviews, and translating evaluations into behavioral ratings according to operating procedures.
Develop and maintain community contacts to the extent that appropriate referrals can be made to community service organizations.
Monito r resident medications, except that which is kept on person, on at least a weekly basis to ensure it is being taken properly. Encourage residents to keep medication prescriptions filled in advance and ensure that chemically dependent residents are not taking mood-altering medications by working with the Agency Nurse in an effort to find a non-narcotic, non-addictive alternative, and notifying the PS when this cannot be accomplished.
Ensure residents do not leave Alternatives, Inc. with unpaid bills as this may adversely affect the public?s attitude in regard to providing services to our residents.
Ensure residents are getting medical treatment as needed.
Assist residents with establishing suitable release plans in accordance with the requirements of the Montana Board of Pardons and Parole, the local Probation and Parole Office, or their federal counterparts.
Complete reports including, but not limited to, thorou gh and accurate case notes, monthly progress reports on each assigned client, Parole Board reports, Conditional Release reports and termination reports within the designated time limits.
Maintain all required case records and management of file materials within the limits of confidentiality requirements and within the appropriate timelines in order for accurate documentation to be accomplished.
Attend and participate in meetings as assigned.
Submit required statistics on a monthly basis.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

REQUIRED:
1. A Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in social services in a counseling or case management position.
2. A Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
3. Must have ability to relate with offenders in a firm, but empathetic fashion.
4. Good writing and verbal communication skills.
5. Must have experience and demonstrated ability in records management.
6. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
7. A current, valid Montana driver's license.
PREFERRED:
1. Experien ce working with offenders and/or experience working in a residential treatment facility.
2. Ability to type 45 words per minute.
3. Familiarity with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
