Introduction
We are searching for a Senior External Communications Expert who will be responsible for boosting and maintaining the company's profile among external stakeholders, including the government, media, general public and the local stakeholders, within the framework of the communication activities of South Stream Transport B.V.
The TurkStream Offshore Pipeline starts in Anapa, Russia, running over 900 kilometers through the Black Sea to the Turkish coast. The pipeline will help secure energy supplies to Turkey and South-Eastern Europe in a reliable and sustainable way. We have used state-of-the-art technology, materials and equipment, to safeguard the pipeline’s safe operation for many decades to come.
Media Relations and Communications
- Coordinate the interaction with the media in Türkiye;
- Support the development and production of information materials, fact-sheets, brochures, leaflets, Q&As, etc.;
- Support the development, update and revision of press releases and the project website;
- Support the organization of local and national media and public events;
- Represent the Company at events like conferences in Türkiye.
- Act as a company spokesperson for media in Türkiye, in close consultation with the primary spokesperson in Amsterdam.
Local and Regional Communications
- Propose, develop and coordinate Community Investment Projects in close cooperation with local stakeholders.
- Support the ongoing communication activities in and around Kıyıköy with the local residents, the regional media as well as local and regional governmental bodies;
- Facilitate coordination and information flow between local employees/contractors and Amsterdam headquarters.
Internal communications
- Generate content about operational activities in Türkiye to share with colleagues in the Netherlands and Russia.
- Coordinate the organization of company events in Türkiye.
Reporting & Analysis
Keep track of main political and legislative developments in Türkiye and write brief analytical notes on key developments;- Maintain an overview of key stakeholders and their position on the TurkStream (‘stakeholder mapping’).
Public Affairs
- Keep in touch with key mid- and high-level governmental stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain good working relations and ongoing collaboration;
- Help position TurkStream in a positive way with governmental stakeholders, both regionally and nationally;
- Work with the Communications Team, the Legal Regulatory Affairs Department and the Permitting Team to ensure an aligned and consistent approach towards political stakeholders;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Economic/Social/Political Sciences or other relevant field, graduate degree will be an asset;
- Min. 5 years’ work experience in journalism, communications, public and/or government relations;
- Good network within relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and BOTAS, and/or the Turkish media is considered an asset;
- Ideally, experience with large infrastructure or energy projects is considered an asset;
- Native Turkish speaker, fluent in English;
- Ability to work independently and proactively but in collaboration and coordination with other team members in other locations;
- Good multitasking and organization skills; attention to quality and detail;
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Stress-resistance and ability to deliver under great time pressure;
- Willingness to travel frequently;
- Experience in event management will be an asset;
- Sound judgment in handling sensitive information and facing challenging circumstances are key.
