Montana State Hospital is located in the Deer Lodge Valley between Butte and Missoula. This location is ideal for individuals or families seeking to locate in a smaller community with good schools. The selection procedures to be used in evaluating an applicant will include; evaluation of the State of Montana Application form, verified work experience, applicant ranking based on qaulifications and experience, structured interview, and testing if applicable. Provisions of relevant collective bargaining agreements may govern aspects of applicant selection.
Duties:
Responsibilities are to provide clinical evaluation, assessment services and treatment as determined by treatment team. Recommend and implement therapeutic interventions and treatment approaches based on evaluation and assessment findings; provide patient treatment to include individual therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducational services; maintain office hours to permit patients to be seen on an individual basis, as needed: design treatment interventions and approaches to be carried out by psychiatric technicians and other staff members; assist in processing, debriefing, and review activities with patients and staff following incidents that present a threat to safety or adversely impact the therapeutic milieu on the unit; design and implement violence prevention activities; carry out Case Coordinator activities; maintain a caseload of assigned patients; participate as a member on a multi-disciplinary treatment team; implement and utilize contemporary treatment models; provide staff training and education activities as requested; participate in commitment and recommitment proceedings; complete billing records; provide consultation services for other treatment teams as requested; obtain and maintain Full Certification is a Mental Health Professional Person (CMHP) in Montana and carry out CMHP responsibilities as assigned. Participate in the development of treatment mall activities and lead clinical tracks as assigned.
Competencies:
Requires knowledge of principles, terminology, and techniques for mental health assessment, behavioral assessment and therapies, theories of psychotherapy, personality theory and dynamics, treatment planning and evaluation, state statutes related to clinical mental health practice, ethical standards, and hospital policies and procedures. Must have the ability to effectively take knowledge and co-occurring principles and their application and apply them to practical treatment modalities; organize and develop individualized treatment programs; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain good working relationships with other staff members, patients, family members, and other agencies, and the public.
Education/Experience:
Masters Degree and completion of an internship or other supervised training experience consistent with licensure requirements.
This position requires licensure or license eligibility (Eligibility means the ability to practice under a license or provisional license upon employment) as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor. An appropriate equivalency such as a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Substance Abuse Counselor with the appropriate license may be considered. Must be certified as a Mental Health Professional Person in Montana or eligible for certification.
